Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Yap app and website, operated by Dettwiler Ventures AB(“Yap,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using Yap, you agree to these Terms.

The service

Yap helps you practice speaking a new language through short, AI-powered voice conversations. Because responses are generated by AI, they may sometimes be inaccurate or imperfect. Yap is for learning and entertainment and is not a substitute for professional language instruction or advice.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. You must provide accurate information and be old enough to use the app in your country.

Subscriptions & billing

Yap Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. After a 7-day free trial, it costs $4.99 per month (or the equivalent in your local currency).
Payment is charged to your Apple ID at the end of the free trial and renews automatically each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your device’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store’s policies.

Acceptable use

Don’t misuse Yap: no illegal activity, no attempting to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service, and no using it to harass others or generate harmful content.

Intellectual property

Yap, its branding, and its software are owned by Dettwiler Ventures AB. The transcripts of your own conversations belong to you; we use them only to provide the service as described in our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers & liability

Yap is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dettwiler Ventures AB is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Termination

You may stop using Yap and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, provide additional notice.
